Vasculitis urticaria simply resembles urticaria or hives as it is marked by red weals or patches on the body but when it is minutely examined with the help of a microscope, inflamed blood vessels appear and hence it is known as vasculitis. It is a hypersensitive reaction in which there is a deposition of antigen and antibodies in the vascular tissues and blood vessels of the body.It has been divided into two main types as normocomplementaemic and hypocomplementaemic.
The common symptoms include severe body pain, high fever, enlarged lymph nodes with burning sensation and acute respiratory or kidney disorder. In few cases there may be itching and irritation. Vasculitis Urticaria is an idiopathic disorder as the real cause is still unknown. However, it has been linked with disease caused due to viruses like hepatitis B, C and mononucleosis or allergies caused due to over drugging that results in the secretion of histamine in the blood vessels. It may also occur due to severe diseases like cancers and leukaemia.
As far as the diagnosis is concerned, biopsy of the affected skin is performed for the confirmation of such urticaria. X-ray test is carried out on the patients reporting of pain and breathing problem in their chest. It may take some time for the symptoms to resolve as the healing process is often slow.if it persists for long time it becomes chronic hives. It may take several days or even months for complete cure.
